| WHY
USE JOJOBA
The word "jojoba" (pronounced "hohoba") refers to both the
plant and the extract of its seed. The color and shape of
jojoba seeds are similar to coffee beans, however there are
significant differences. Jojoba seeds are larger and their
size and shape are not uniform, as are the coffee beans.
One of the reasons we have chosen to use jojoba oil with our
treatments is that jojoba’s liquid wax ester is similar to
the human sebum. Its high penetration rate is very nourishing
for the skin and it is especially useful for clients with
sensitive skin. It is also good for inflamed skin, psoriasis,
eczema and any sort of dermatitis. This oil contains myristic
acid which is an anti-inflammatory. Jojoba does not clog the
pores and is preferred by aestheticians and massage therapists
because of its deep-cleaning ability.
Jojoba works by conditioning (not moisturizing) the skin.
It leaves the skin feeling soft, smooth and silky; not greasy,
oily or sticky.
When used appropriately, jojoba will not stain linens or clothing
because it stays in the skin. Jojoba washes out of fabric
with hot water and a good detergent.
Ayurvedic states that one should never put anything on the
skin that is not edible, as it is the largest organ of absorption
of the body. Jojoba oil is edible, however, it is not used
in cooking because it doesn’t taste very well.
Only the finest quality products are used with our treatments.
